PAST SACRAMENTO 4/23/2017 12:30 PM About an hour outside of Sacramento the train started climbing… this meant a dramatic change in scenery. Pine trees, tunnels, tracks that curve, gold country and the snowy Sierra Nevadas. I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking here. The day is far from done. All continued on the next post to come.
4/23/2017 10:20 AM I’m on the California Zephyr heading to Chicago. The train pulled into Emeryville at 8:45 AM. There might be about 50 of us that boarded here. Folk with sleeper cars were up front… and us cheapskates (non-sleeper car types) boarded the cars in the middle and the back.
