Yep, I have 2 at the coffee station under my gazebo in the driveway. Both are Mr. Coffees. Good solid machines that get the job done.
Sure, there are fancier machines these days… but it was Mr. Coffee that got the java brewing and making affordable coffee-makers available to the average home. In fact, one of the founders of the original company passed recently. So, the next time you are getting caffeinated raise a cup to him in tribute.
Why two? The short version is (when I had only one) through a mishap I cracked the pot. In my search to replace it I discovered it actually cost $2 extra for a new machine. So, I got a new machine… for less ($13) as the store was running a 20% off sale. A week later while in a thrift store I found a used pot for $3. (Much better than the $15 for a new replacement.) I hadn’t thrown the old one away so… tah dah!
Coffee has been brewed under the gazebo for the past 2 years. Always a pleasant time and of late it has been dubbed with several monikers… Marcel’s Rumor Mill Cafe, Cafe Rogue and Salon Du Marcel.. just to name a few. Friends have dropped in for a cup or three sharing stories, goodwill and contributing to creative exchanges.
And all of this because the machines brew a decent cup… which is why it is my count this week.
