… finally clean my room. Though this week I’m counting those windows of opportunity when we are freed up to do anything… unshackled by the “have-to chains” as it were.
As some of you know I recently completed a slew of editing gigs… after which I dove into fixing a zone of sprinklers that had been needing attention for quite a while. (Some might argue… for far too long.) Those accomplishments are now behind me. I can now move forward.
Yes, my room has been needing some much needed TLC for a bit. I think today is the day to bestow some on it. (OK… perhaps more than some.) And as with most things… starting is the toughest move. But once started, I usually move ahead quite handily.
Besides, there are so many pluses to getting it done. (I keep telling myself that.) Though it’s true. A big one is that some time next week I hope to be installing my brand new hard-drive. This will be so much easier if I don’t have to stumble over a mountain of things in the way… things that will be out of the way today.
Whenever I’m in editing (or anything I’m obsessed with at the moment) mode… that takes precedence. A clean or even a tidy up in the middle of something will break the spell. At least that is the irrational belief I hold… and have for years. Not sure why but I’ve always believed that. Then again folk who engage in any creative endeavor habitually all have quirky rituals. Mine happens to be… not moving a damn thing until the project is completed.
So, when a window of freed up opportunity crops up my choices are: recreate or rehabilitate. On this round I’m opting for the latter and counting the fact that I’m free to do so.
