I wanted to be cool…

Spread the love

robert-wagner… wearing mock turtlenecks, sideburns, getting the girl and stealing things. I wanted to be Al Mundy from “It Takes A Thief“. To me he was THE standard of cool. A suave, debonair, likable rogue with a twinkle in his eye and a streak of compassion.

Of course, I was also at the age when I wanted to be Pope. One would think that this would have been a conflict but a Pope who wore mock turtlenecks and sideburns was fine by me. Besides, the role of Al Mundy’s dad was played by Fred Astaire! How cool was that?

I loved that program. Like many TV shows and movies of that era… international espionage and the hip swinging 60’s were so linked together that it appeared fun. I’ve been catching episodes on Hulu of late. Sure, they are dated… but they are still fun. I love the fact that in the first few episodes every fictional European country that he goes to uses stock aerial footage of Monte Carlo.

Anyway… this little trek back has been fun… but it’s back to the present and the chores it holds. Have a great Wednesday.

BTW… the lovely Cosima has posted more pictures of her worldwind tour.
