Apparently there are reports of two dogs prowling the neighborhood killing cats. This has been going on for a week and their actions have been caught on a home security cam. There was a notice all the neighbors got that there have been 9 victims so far. I’m not a big fan of cats only because I’m allergic to them. I don’t hate them but I do keep a safe distance just so my nose and eyes don’t get all wonky. Still, these attacks are unacceptable.
I once had a dog in Malaysia who loved killing the neighbor’s chickens. To be fair to the dog, he only killed chickens who wandered into our yard. Still, that was not acceptable behavior… but neither was putting the dog down. Afterall, he was just doing his vigilant duty to protect the property from these terrorist fowl.
My Dad devised a cure. The next chicken the dog killed was fastened to the dog’s collar for a week. The poor dog had to drag it all over the place hampering his mobility. Needless to say, the chicken got pretty ripe. The long and short of it… the dog never killed a chicken ever again electing instead to just chasing them out of the yard without biting them.
Animal control was seen in the area yesterday but it didn’t look like they caught the criminal canines. I doubt “the cure” will be employed and these dogs will probably be put down for their feline genocidal ways. With 9 victims… they’ve obviously cultivated a taste for killing.
It’s a sad situation all around… too bad certain pet owners abdicate responsibility of their charges.
