Right… we’ve heard that one before, haven’t we?

Yeah, I sat down and started writing yesterday. I was ambivalent about doing it (as I am every time I have started a project of this sort)  but I managed to crank out 5 pages within the first hour. For me that was a sure sign this one might just bloom.

Reading through it (the first five pages) the crackle and pop seems to be there but there is still a ways to go. Still it’s a start, eh? BTW… crackle and pop is essential in the first write in order for me to continue. It’s a condition I absolutely require. (I can be such a demanding bastard.)

Though I did notice a difference this time around… when I began writing, that is. Mostly in my attitude. A squishy voice in my head says, “No big deal… just do the damn thing.” This is despite the fact that I’m always convinced I know not what I do when I’m on a project.

It’s a shift that has been evolving over the years. One that discards the “precious and mystical” in creation and replacing it with the mindset of performing a craft.

I think it is a healthier attitude. Much more workman like. I like it and find it quite liberating.

Now, let’s see if I still possess the skill-set to perform this craft. It’s been a while since I tackled something for the stage.

In the end… only the work will tell.
