Da Count – pomp and grandeur

Spread the love

dacount Yes, I watched it. Let’s face it… no one does pomp and grandeur like the British. As I stated in my previous post… good on them.

Yes, the bride was stunning the groom was strapping… and I thought it all went quite spectacularly. Guests all dressed to the nines and let’s face it… the pageantry – stunning.

What moved me though was the crowd… the commoners. Dads with their own princesses on their shoulders for a better look. Granddaughters hand in hand with their grandmothers. Blokes and their birds enjoying the day and cheering it all… as they should. For most a connection to their past with hope of this step into the future.

Some have been cynical about the entire affair. Let them. I happen to think there is a certain charm with the pageantry and grandeur.

Through it all I couldn’t help but know that Mum (who was always a royalist) would have loved all of this. Then again, she probably had the best seat in the house. That’s a count, ain’t it?
