Because I’m really enjoying it. In case you are already befuddled as to what I’m refering to… it is writing… again. Be it with this blog or with my other creative projects. It has become fun once more. Kinda like running onto an old friend you haven’t seen in eons and re-engaging in shenanigans once again that make you both laugh your heads off at.
Tis true I took an extended sojourn from it. Hardly even updating this blog in all that time. Sure there was a smattering of posts on the odd occasion but that could not compare to my output from a few years ago. In fact, I often used my blog as a medium to satiate the need for creative output. Remember that?
I don’t think I’m alone in this. Once Facebook came on the scene many ardent bloggers slowed down their blog postings… some giving up their blogs entirely. In fact, I went through my blogroll and weeded out links to blogs that no longer exist. That number hovered between 15 and 20. Ah, the good old days.
There are some who stalwartly continued to keep posting, like Oz, Mark and Lime… and I for one am glad for that. And there are some, who after a break, have (or are attempting) to post again. Cosima… just to name one. So, there may be a small resurgence. I’m sure there are more out there… chime in the comments if you have. Some have “exclusified” their blogs… you folk chime in too.
Even though I missed it during my self imposed sojourn I knew that I would eventually get back to it when I was ready to. The break (and the quiet) allowed for some genuine creative build up that I’m now allowing to spew forth. And I’m coming to it with a fresh set of eyes and renewed vigor. So, it’s all good.
As for my creative writing… yeah, I’ve started that again too. (All that build-up has to go somewhere, eh?) Not only have I started but I’ve put together a “creative schedule” to crank out (and hopefully bring into fruition) four more before the year is out.
Yep, I have my work cut out for me. Creating and blogging… both with a renewed joy. And even if my readership is not going to be what it was… be assured that I’ll continue posting on this blog.
